KHÖLD VALLEY demo 2009 review

KHÖLD VALLEY (France) – S/T
Demo Tape 2009 – Nuclear Thrash Prod
8 tracks - 23'05
Rated: 4/10

The hyperactive Jeff send me one of his numerous projects. This one is the second demo of his thrash metal oriented band KHÖLD VALLEY. Influenced by bands like SLAYER (whose « Agressive perfector » is the ending cover song), TESTAMENT, KREATOR and probably crossover bands like SUICIDAL TENDANCIES or SOD (whose "March of the SOD" is the opening covered track here). The result is some sonic ripping thrash metal with even some thrash/death touches sometimes, but that's just a cool demo. It's probably due to two things. First one is that KHÖLD VALLEY uses drum-programming, and even if it gives some tightness and coldness to the whole, I like my thrash metal with a human vibe, a sick motherfucker that beats the skin as if it was his last day on earth, sweating and bleeding!
Second point, the vocals are low mid-grunts that didn't fit the music according to me and they sound powerless, a bit like the guy got a cold and recorded his vocals ill with a scarf in a 10°C room. Beside this, it's ok musically, even if some silly half-drunk played solos would have been a nice option as well.
