RAPE, PILLAGE AND BURN Songs of death...songs of hell Review

RAPE PILLAGE AND BURN (US) – Songs of death...songs of hell
MCD 2009 – Obliteration Records
5 tracks - 16'31
Rated: 6/10
This name probably isn't familiar to you even if the band exists since 1997 and features two members of DIVINE EVE. This EP is released 12 years after and smells the old school death metal as expected.
You have here 5 tracks that go right to the point, catchy but not enough to stick in your mind. The music itself is inherited from the glorious days of bands like early DEATH, AUTOPSY, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED, ENTOMBED, ASPHYX...
The funniest thing is that RP&B sounds more European to me, you have fast parts of course mixed with heavy ones, but the band never tried to sound modern or to reach fast tempos (no blast-beats!). A band is attached to the 90's death metal and that's probably why this EP was initially released by Ibex Moon Records. It's a cool death metal MCD with war themes for fans of the bands mentioned above plus stuff like PENTACLE or BOLT THROWER. But I'm not sure I could endure a full release as it lacks a bit of something to be really groundbreaking.
