BLASPHERIAN Allegiance to the will of damnation Review

BLASPHERIAN (US) – Allegiance to the will of damnation
MLP 2007 – Blood Harvest Records
5 tracks - 25'55
Rated: 7/10

This new band by Wes Infernal, ex-guitarist in IMPRECATION and INFERNAL DOMINION doesn’t differ too much from what he did previously that is to say satanic death metal. I have reviewed their split with EVIL INCARNATE quite positively in these pages, and this MLP confirms my opinion. Not that BLASPHERIAN’s crude and nasty death metal reach the excellence but people that used to listen to IMPRECATION and INFERNAL DOMINION shall check this new project. The major accordance between the three bands is the guitar grain, this kind of infernal and fuzzy yet heavy and sharp sound that fits perfectly to the band. BLASPHERIAN is probably closest to IMPRECATION than INFERNAL DOMINION because the last had some slamming parts typical to the Texas death metal style whereas BLASPHERIAN drain some old school influences like early INCANTATION and IMMOLATION, especially during the slow parts.
But to make it clear, this MLP doesn’t contain outstanding music or unheard riffs. The best thing about it is the incredible dark and sulphurous vibe that is the main focus of this release without looking at the musicianship which mostly aims at primitiveness.
