KAAMOS Scales of leviathan Review

KAAMOS (Swe) – Scales of leviathan
MCD 2007 – Nuclear Winter Records
5 tracks – 20’14
Rated: 6,5/10

Another good band has split up, so here is the final punishment by KAAMOS with this MCD. This band was highly respected with many features in underground writings and two major albums made of quality death metal done with the guts. Performing the typical abrasive Swedish sound, KAAMOS continues where “Lucifer Rising” ended though the whole sound is closer to the debut album “Kaamos”. KAAMOS plays fast and impious death metal in the vein of GROTESQUE and was probably his best inheritor.
The five tracks are good, not exceptional, but still good for anyone into dark Swedish death metal. The most achieved song is certainly the last one “Spiritual funeral” which can be seen as an ultimate farewell: a slow funeral march in the doom/death vein of RUNEMAGICK. Now I just hope the band won’t reunited in the coming years because of a “hype” that would be created about their cult status.
