OATH TO VANQUISH Applied schizophrenic science Review

OATH TO VANQUISH (Lbn) – Applied schizophrenic science
CD 2006 – Grindethic Records
9 tracks – 32’18
Rated: 6,5/10

I guess the band’s nationality is a mark of exoticism or at least a possible way to generate curiosity as OATH TOVANQUISH deserves the listening. Yes because the band offers a personal mixture of extreme metal with dark atmospheres and impressive brutality. I can’t say they are absolutely innovative but they combine brutal death, grindcore and black metal with ability using hyper shrieks and ultra guttural vomits. Can they gather and convince fans of the three mentioned styles? Probably brutal death fans and grind freaks could be satisfied but die-hard black metallers would scream forth heresy because of these groovy parts. On the contrary brutal guys may find those dark melodic parts out of purpose even if they manage to get your breath back for a short time.
OTV owns the intensity, recorded a really decent first album and does not feel ashamed compare to other scenes from Europe or the US.
This release can mostly please freaks into brutal shit without being too narrow-minded.
