FLESH Worship the soul of disgust Review

FLESH (Swe) – Worship the soul of disgust
CD 2008 – Pulverised Records
9 tracks – 41'37
Rated: 6/10

Mr Flesh is a very active man, coz beside his other doom/death metal project THROWN, he found time to record a third album of his main old school deathly creature FLESH. Forget the pitiful review I did for “Temple of whores” in PEZ #3, this 2nd one is pretty good and even if not as efficient and catchy as the 1st album, he deserves a place in your death metallic CD shelves.
About this “Worship the soul of disgust” (which was originally supposed to be entitled “Shatahan” but who cares?), Pete Flesh still with the help of his comrade Flingan (DECEIVER) keeps up the old school death metal recipe used on the previous records, that is to say death metal inspired by early works of DEATH, PESTILENCE, AUTOPSY and any other cult acts I let you choose if you dare listen to it. But as Pete Flesh stated in PEZ #2, he’s also influenced by early black metal stuff, that means you can hear some funeral alike atmospheres by the use of dissonances and other arpeggios that gives that black metal vibe (even some crows’ screams samples!). But don’t worry, this release remains some solid death metal and not any kind of trendy black/death metal shit.
So what this album brings forth except to fill your room with another release? Well, if you enjoy FLESH’ previous works, this one is a pretty decent one although he doesn’t kick my ass like the first one. I think, the album’s production is a bit too clean and common for this kind of death metal. Pete Flesh keep the easy way of recording at Abyss Studio, I advise him to try something different, that could but only help FLESH getting darker and why not exhuming some smell of death that leaves the band since the first record.
