NOLENTIA Sell your soul to grind n' roll Review

NOLENTIA (France) – Sell your soul to grind n' roll
MCD 2008 – Self Released
6 tracks - 14'26
Rated: 6/10

Weird name chosen by these grinders from southern France, their MCD cover isn't appealing as well, so the first contact with this band starts quite badly. But what about the music then? NOLENTIA is a grindcore band and this first release is a pretty decent one: with a grindcore basis in the classic way reminding BRUTAL TRUTH (for the use of both screamed and guttural vocals) and NASUM for the most hysterical parts.
NOLENTIA adds different influences into their grindcore such as slow parts ( the first track is a good example where the slow part really catch the attention) that could remind some SOILENT GREEN, some pounding parts in the US brutal death way but too common to really blow your head, and some hardcore influences (the track « Goethe ») which are not really a highlight in my opinion, but hey, that's their own music after all.
The first half of this MCD is some good grindcore whereas the second half turned into some powerviolence I'm not very fond of.
