SECTIONED is a new death metal band featuring Mike of DIMENTIANON / Paragon Records who takes here the vocals duty to help his friend Zoltan Valter who is the creator of SECTIONED. I won't sum you up the bio because the band's genitor has moved a lot these last years so let's go back to what's our main concern here, that is to say the music.
SECTIONED is an old school influenced death metal band who names DEATH, early PESTILENCE, early MORGOTH, OBITUARY as inspiration. I sometimes detect DEATH and early PESTILENCE, some MASSACRE « From beyond » especially, there are many similarities between both bands.
SECTIONED is somewhat different by the use of keyboards, fortunately they didn't drown the music with. The vocals of Mike are recognizable if you know his work in DIMENTIANON; he sings in a more guttural and lower tone than in DIMENTIANON but he also uses the same medium voice, so sometimes it reminds DIMENTIANON and makes SECTIONED sounding a bit black/death metal reminding the « Cult of the initiated » of PESSIMIST.
A good point for SECTIONED is that Zoltan put some nice guitar solos that really create majestic and dark atmospheres a bit like what you can feel listening to « Testimony of the ancients ».
Despite some too black metal alike parts and a whole sound lacking of intensity, there are valuable and promising things that let me think SECTIONED is able to create some good following.
