I'm not too much familiar with the Italian veteran grinders (they started in 1988!). I only have their previous album « Desperately insensitive », which didn't attract my attention more than this, an ok release though. Their last effort is far more convincing for me with 24 explosive tracks with a grindcore basis where CRIPPLE BASTARDS adds crust/punk influences, death metal touches, thrashy parts, …
The essential influences remain NAPALM DEATH (old and late records), BRUTAL TRUTH (« Need to control », with a very similar approach in experimentation in creating suffocating slow parts), the first TERRORIZER, … Vocally as well, you can hear low guttural growls, hardcore/grindcore screams and sometimes shouted punkish voices.
Surely not the most outstanding grindcore release, but this one has enough fury, madness and energy to please all grindheads and is probably the best introduction to CRIPPLE BASTARDS' music. The hardcore/punk side of the band could repulse the most maniacal metalheads so you've been warned.
