The return of the mummy!! Erik the editor reach the respectable number of 10 issues at the end of 2008, and for those familiar with Erik's work, well the recipe doesn't change as he offers a well-filled issue with varied content with deep grave exhumation or better said really underground bands/zines/labels/distros. If you have the 9th issue of S&M and my previous PEZ, you could remember Erik and myself had two interviews in common which where DEATHEVOCATION and DISKORD. This time (and unfortunately for you Erik!) we have three inties in common (and it could have been worst!). The obvious fact is that we definitely have good tastes in metal, nothing more nothing less.
For this 10th issue, Erik starts it with a long editorial that turns into an interesting retrospective showing that fanzining is a long way to the top (of nothing).
On the interviews' side, you have as usually , a good bunch of featured activists which are: DEATH INVOKER, TERROR FROM HELL Records, PERSECUTOR, LANTERN (with ex-CACODAEMON mentor), PERVERTED SON / DEMONS JAIL Zine (I must confess that the thought of featuring Marcelo came to my mind because of his very good first issue), GRAVEYARD DIRT, BLACK SISTER / PROBLEM? Records, ZAPISNIK Zine (from Montenegro!), VULVATHRONE, ZERO BUDGET Productions (this guy has an amazing english level!) and PAEDIATRICIAN (the lamest intie of the zine coz' of disappointing answers).
A shitload of reviews as usual (probably as many as I couldn't ever write), and even if I didn't read them all, I found that Erik wrote his most critical reviews, sometimes he even has a severe judgment as if Erik got bored sometimes but at least it's full of honesty.
Talking about the general tone of this issue, it seems this one has been done painfully with some disappointment (partly due to some band's behavior I guess) and also the fact Erik moved from Hungary to Czech Rep.
This said, hope that S&M is going up to 10 more issues of underground extreme music. And the fact he now lives in Czech Rep let occur some promising upcoming underground investigations!
