According to their bio, SWALLOWED started by the end of summer 2007 as the reunion of two young finnish deathsters whose self proclaimed influences are NIHILIST, AUTOPSY and REPULSION. As the demo title lets occur « putrefaction » is three tracks of old school putrid death metal (two tracks and a NIHILIST cover « Carnal leftovers »).
With a rehearsal-like sound, SWALLOWED delivers some AUTOPSY alike death metal, quite convincing despite a muffled sound and back mixed guttural vocals.
The finnish obscure touch is definitely there, especially on the 2nd track « Wisdom of putrefying » with its sinister lead guitar.
Hard to really evaluate the band with only two personal compositions (the NIHILIST cover is just cool) so probably SWALLOWED should evolve sound wise. They have released a second demo but I didn't get hold of it yet, so watch out for a further review of their next stuff...
