That’s something words cannot explain but when I discover an unknown band with a demo like this one I do say it’s worth digging the caves of the underground, unholy fucking hell!!!
This “Defamation manifesto” demo is an obvious example of a band with creative abilities without betraying or bastardizing the roots of death metal. The band started in 2005 and released their first demo only 2 years after, no waste of time!
ANNIHILATION TEXT manages to gather influences like MORBID ANGEL, NILE and early IMMOLATION, and finally create interesting tracks with their own touch. ANNIHILATION TEXT have this flaming and demoniac vibe bands like DIABOLIC do have; but where DIABOLIC wasted times seeking ultimate blasting brutality, the Canadians stressed on more varied tempos and structures. The band is really competent to write pounding memorable tracks like “Swine of the cloth” with its marching rhythm and its hellish mood, you can but only bang your head with a track like this.
This demo is heavily influenced by the “Domination” album of MORBID ANGEL by its evil side and the guitar solos’ sound close to Erik Rutan, although they didn’t reach the same intensity, but they share the same vision in bleeding angels’ rectum.
This is a good surprise from a promising band; if they keep up such a good work and stay faithful to this kind of death metal, ANNIHILATION TEXT is able to be the next hope of death metal from the Canadian hell. Good luck!
