Under this barbaric moniker is a quite uncommon band hailing from Australia. We’re not talking of war metal here, rather of some obscure brutal death metal. IE plays a darker approach of US brutal death style à la DEVOURMENT and INTERNAL SUFFERING. Their heaviness can also remind their landmates of DISEMBOWELMENT as IE is very low tuned.
Beyond the monotonous gory guttural voice, IE is able to create some haunting and sinister parts by the use of simple riffs and dissonances. Nothing astonishing but merely efficient for those seeking something really heavy and pounding, with deadly atmospheres.
Despite these good elements, you can found some too common riffs and too much repeated parts. IE plays mostly power chords riffs, there are very few single notes played and that could be boring on a longer basis for those looking for an embryo of melody of musical variations.
I think this band would better please doom/death fans of COFFINS or FUNEBRARUM for example than pure brutal deathsters. At least those into any kind of heavy and dark death metal should give it a try.
