ANGELCORPSE Of lucifer and lightning Review

ANGELCORPSE (US) – Of Lucifer and lightning
CD 2007 – Osmose Productions
9 tracks – 36’37
Rated: 5/10
The successor of “The inexorable” is finally here, after a more or less arguable reunion after a more or less explicit split. But don’t waste our time on useless gossips. After a chaotically produced but hellish “The inexorable”, ANGELCORPSE comes with a similar release but with a different production, let’s say more rough especially concerning the guitar sound which is put forward in the mix probably because Palubicki is the sole songwriter.
On the drums is Mr Longstreth which was supposed to be not good and fast enough some years ago but recorded on this new album. But probably commander Palubicki didn’t remember his stupid words years ago (but please no more gossips). The drum work is of course very good but back mixed in case Mr Longstreth would become famous and leave the band (and that’s the case).
And still on blasphemous vomits is Mr Helmkamp that does a good job as usual although monotonous for the profane.
“Of Lucifer and lightning” is not a bad release but not an exciting one as well. It sounds as a recorded release for the sake of being recorded and end a contract (and that’s the case!).
