MACHETAZO / RIBSPREADER split EP 2007 review

MACHETAZO (Spa) / RIBSPREADER (Swe)
Split EP 2007 – The Spew Records
5 tracks
Rated: 6/10 – 5/10

The Spanish horror serial grinders let fall the culprit with one track of old school death/grind. The mixture can be regurgitated like old NAPALM DEATH meets ABSCESS but on a more extreme way yet still old school to the bone with a macabre touch reminding the early vomits of CARCASS. The second is a cover of CARNAGE “The day man lost” mangled into the MACHETAZO way with an ok result, maybe a bit cleaner sounding than the original.
Who else than the Swedish RIBSPREADER can share the gore supper. Three short tracks of crusty nauseous death metal the old way embalmed by the AUTOPSY way of life (after death). The comparison with PAGANIZER is unavoidable, although RIBSPREADER is straighter and more putrid with a slight old school grind touch à la NAPALM DEATH / REPULSION. Nothing really astonishing, the rotten sound is cool for an underground release but the music won’t change the smell of you overweighed shelves.
