FLAGELLUM DEI Under the might... Review

FLAGELLUM DEI (Prt) – Under the might…
CD 2007 – Bloody Productions
7 tracks – 37’56
Rated: 5/10
Another release of Bloody Prod showing the healthy state of Portuguese underground metal scene, and 2nd album for FLAGELLUM DEI. This is my first contact with the band who practises traditional black metal in the Norwegian vein. They started in 1998 and had released various stuff like a demo in 2000, an EP in 2002, a split CD with LUX FERRE and STERKVIND in 2003 and the first album in 2004.
The music itself is some grim and cold black metal reminding a lot what DARKTHRONE has spawned years ago. “Transylvanian hunger” is the most blatant release close to “Under the might…” and some early SATYRICON for the frozen side of the music.
Some may find rude the way I rated this opus; the fact is that I ain’t a black metal fan, but eventhough this album is well played and sounding, it didn’t get apart the hundred hordes of black metal bands around even with some really dark and catchy riffs.
Goat worshippers will definitively hail it.
