DYING FETUS War of attrition Review

DYING FETUS (US) – War of attrition
CD 2007 – Relapse Records
8 tracks – 36’52
Rated: 6/10

Who doesn’t know this US combo who started as basic brutal death gore and now mixes death metal, grindcore and hardcore with the success everyone knows and despite the relentless line-up changes. It seems each album is done with new musicians but the music itself doesn’t evolve of an inch; Commander Gallagher knows how to lead the troops to the battlefield.
And here you have almost the same recipe since “Killing on adrenaline”, improving the production so on this new release the sound just crushes as fuck, you can bet it. DYING FETUS is among the very few bands whose I really enjoy the music, this mixture of death, hardcore and technicality with a real live killing ability is certainly the most achieved compared to less captivating bands like TON or INTERNAL BLEEDING.
The fact is that each release looks like the same without real evolution or try of creating something more braindrilling. No doubt that die-hard fans of DYING FETUS will love this release but, regarding the band’s potential, I just regret they didn’t try more adventurous ways to play music, I don’t speak of a radical change but better looking to kick asses like they did on “Destroy the opposition” with more catchy tunes.
