GORYPTIC From blast to collapse Review

GORYPTIC (Fr) – From blast to collapse
CD 2007 – Self released
11 tracks - 40’00
Rated: 6/10
After their 2 promo track CD they used to spread, here we have their announced first album. GORYPTIC was formerly known HERESY and released some stuff under that moniker, then changed name because of too numerous bands using the same.
The style didn’t really change, GORYPTIC kept playing brutal death metal the way they like it and heavily influenced by the US scene.
Recorded at the guitar player’s studio, the band can afford to get his album mastered at Imperial Mastering. The result is very decent and quite professional regarding the foreign releases; GORYPTIC doesn’t have to feel ashamed.
“From blast to collapse” needs many listening as GORYPTIC displays lot of riffs and rhythms changes, so it can be quite hard to follow the track. Keeping the US brutal death tradition, GORYPTIC also uses heavy slamming parts which are mostly the highlight in their music. They mixed these parts with fast blasted parts à la CRYPTOPSY or GORATORY (band which is the closest to GORYPTIC, same influences maybe).
The vocals are not in the gory way, more in a quite understandable way, sometimes very fast in the words pronunciation bringing more dynamic.
A good first debut lacking of more outstanding moment. GORYPTIC has to dissolve its influences to keep a more personal way of playing. The bad point of “From blast…” is that awful 11th track remixed in a techno/jungle way which simply increases uselessly the album duration.
