NOMINON Terra Necrosis review

NOMINON (Swe) – Terra Necrosis
CD 2007 – Deathgasm Records
11 tracks – 47’43
Rated: 8/10
“Terra Necrosis”, here is a title that fits perfectly to a death metal release. Third album and second one recorded at Necromorbus studio, this new opus shall establish NOMINON as a pillar of true Swedish death metal. The band is now renowned in the underground with multiple features in many fanzines. Like death itself, NOMINON spreads its shadow over fields of desolation with its most heavy and gloomy release to date.
Probably the best inheritor of infamous death metal act GROTESQUE, you can expect a continuation and improvement of what you could hear on “Recremation” but more accomplished and certainly catchier with incredible slow and obscure parts (Release on death, Black chapel, Life extinct, Bane appetite …) with a killer and powerful guitar sound.
Even if NOMINON is clearly old school oriented, they provide some personal tunes bringing the old school side higher without too much complexity. I think that this album was oriented at creating funeral moody hymns with enough brutality to avoid the band becoming a doom/death styled band. One of the best actual Swedish death metal bands! Avoiding this release would be definitively a mistake for those pretending to be a die-hard fan of death metal.
