NERVO CHAOS Quarrel in hell Review

NERVO CHAOS (Bra) – Quarrel in hell
CD 2007 – Ibex Moon Records
10 tracks – 47’58
Rated: 4/10
I am usually quite enthusiastic when I got some release coming from Ibex Moon Records as I share some tastes with the head label John Mc Entee. This album of NERVO CHAOS (which is in fact a US license of a record previously released by Tumba Productions in 2006 for the Brazil ground) remains in the traditional release policy of this label, that is to say that NERVO CHAOS is a death metal band, rather 90’s oriented, so deeply rooted in this stream that we can consider the band came too late or should have been born in the 90’s to get a real attention. Not that this release sucks but it’s so unoriginal that only death metal junkies would get a blast listening to it.
Sometimes it sounds as a naïve patchwork of 90’s death metal veterans like MORBID ANGEL (Altars of madness) and early SUFFOCATION, early CANNIBAL CORPSE but on a very superficial manner. The guys are competent to handle their axes and cut some heads but the lack of some ounces of personality is the main reproach. So yes boredom slowly comes and distinction between the tracks wouldn’t have been a luxury.
The prestigious list of guests won’t help the release to get a better mark as well as the awful triggered kick drums.
Not essential.
