OBSCENITY Where sinners bleed Review

OBSCENITY (Ger) – Where sinners bleed
CD 2006 – Armageddon Music
10 tracks – 42'02
Rated: 8/10

I have always followed the career of OBSCENITY and I still wonder how a band like this cannot focus more attention. Even if Germany is more the land of heavy and thrash metal, some death metal outfits deserved more than just a single listening: INGURGITATING OBLIVION, DEFEATED SANITY, FETOCIDE, FLESHCRAWL or NECROTIC FLESH to name some of them. OBSCENITY belongs to this list releasing quite regularly albums that improve each time. This new one, even if rather close to the previous “Cold blooded murder”, keeps the sonic impact, the brutal side and is more achieved concerning the songwriting. The opening track is the best example. No fucking intro, the track hits you like a fist in the face. When you hit the ground you’re still amazed by the smashing production, then paying attention of the track structure, a trampling slower riff comes and you start to bleed.
The other tracks are based on a will of varied structure, from blasting parts and more pounding ones. Quite classic you may say but definitively entertaining.
Some may argue about the almost missing of melodic parts, that’s rather true because you have to wait the last tracks to find a sparkle of humanity. “Non-existence” track which is the only mistake, this small melodic bridge reminding some ARCH ENEMY makes me feels weird as I found it useless to the track. On the contrary the last track “The bullet that kills” is a more epic track with a length of 7’13 which shows another side of OBSCENITY and closes the album as a brutal epitaph.
A very good release that our French managers must listen as it would be great to see OBSCENITY on stage in France instead of a 1000th time gigs of VADER or CANNIBAL CORPSE.
The digipack version comes with the “Suffocated truth” debut album as bonus.
