NAUSEANT demo 2007 review

NAUSEANT (Swe) – Abysmaltician
Demo CD 2007 – Self released
3 tracks – 12’04
Rated: 4/10

The Swedish old school death metal revival seems to be an ever growing but tiring trend. Maybe the young deathsters of nowadays get bored (too lazy?) to play blasting technical death/grind or something like that. They claimed to go back to the roots, that they used to listen to NIHILIST when they were still in their mother’s womb, etc…
Funny thing is that I am quite enthusiastic with this over populated scene as some band are really convincing even if they come with not so fresh idea, the fact is that they play something good (like DEATHEVOCATION).
About the case of NAUSEANT, they choose another ground of influences from their Finnish neighbours. NAUSEANT is deeply influenced, better said completely DEMILICH obsessed. The music itself is a heavy gloomy death metal in the direct veins of DEMILICH demos. They even use long and mysterious title tracks, strange guitar harmonies, and ultra low growls.
It can sound cool to you but NAUSEANT is actually an average copycat of DEMILICH. Let them rehearse more and offer something more personal.
