DEVASTER demo 2005 review

DEVASTER (It) – Infernal march
Demo 2005 – Self released
5 tracks – 27’20
Rated: 6/10
Italian thrash is not something overspread except old acts like BULLDOZER or the great NECRODEATH, but actually there isn’t any exciting band or very few coming from Italia. DEVASTER is definitively an adept of good old & traditional thrash fucking metal as it must be. Headbanging & beerthirsting! This is nothing outstanding for sure but these four thrash maniacs known their subject very well. Ripping guitar riffs à la old METALLICA meets DESTRUCTION, lots of nice guitar solos (do you really think they could miss them? Ahah!)… The tracks are quite long maybe a bit too much but that remains enjoyable as DEVASTER owns some kick ass energy. Melody is not banished (“Persecution”) and offers a pause on the warfield (but that doesn’t last!). For a first demo it’s not bad at all, even if something is missing like some catchiness maybe. The last track “Necrothrash”is certainly my favourite, with a more extreme approach by the use of blast-beats, this a way DEVASTER should dig deeper, I mean adding a death metal touch is something they do very well. Encouraging stuff.
