6 fucking years of hard labour, alcohol, laziness but before all, passion, to compile this huge amount of underground metal investigation done by the two editors Thomas and Karnage (this last one lives in South America so he even met some bands and offers outstanding and personal chats). ETERNAL FIRE Zine is mostly dedicated to exotic scenes from South America, Asia and Australia although here you won’t find the latest fames but purely satanic and bestial legions devoted to the ancient black arts.
Expect hours and hours of reading because the editors know how to ask hyper-detailed questions, they have dissected the bands so much I think it’s impossible to go further after this (i.e the HEADHUNTER DC interview, probably the longest ever published!).
Here’s a sample of the bands featured: MORTEM, ANAL VOMIT, THORNAFIRE, EXTERMINATE, DISFORTERROR, DEFORMITY, INCRUST, BLACK ANGEL, GRENADE, EMBALMED, KRATORNAS (a bit more talkative than usual) and even some European people are featured: CACODAEMON, MORBID UPHEAVAL and the most hated label Ordealis Records….
Tons of reviews as well of every format, sure that in 6 years they had time to gather dozens of releases, even if some stuff can seem outdated. The reviews are well written, rather short but with an honest opinion, the European stuff is usually not the most acclaimed.
The Zine is done the computerized way with simple but clear lay-out. I personally would have increased the margins to gain some room and pages.
One of the best zine around, a kind of chapter of Metal Archives on paper. Highly recommended!
