PUSTULATED Haematoma Review

PUSTULATED (US) – Haematoma
CD 2005 – Goregiastic Records
12 tracks – 26’57
Rated: 1/10

I didn’t know PUSTULATED before, so curiousness made me buy this third release of them. To be honest I was aware that Goregiastic Records release policy is about brutal stuff, so I had a little clue about what PUSTULATED was able in terms of musical murder.
About murder, I must correct this word by boredom maybe. For sure PUSTULATED is somewhat brutal as their numerous landmates are brutal, sick or whatever.
What’s annoying with PUSTULATED is that this third record is of an absolute flatness: non catchy riffs as well as ultra common and lame ones. The drumming is fast and brutal but seems to hide obvious riffs poverty. This is 2nd zone US brutal death metal without identity and some fake attempts of originality with use of shitty samples or effects.
The apex of grotesquery is reach by this ridiculous cover/medley of PANTERA ‘”Walk”/ “Good friends and bottle of pills”, I still wonder if someone is able to cover something else than “Walk”. Fortunately very short but quite boring, you are warned to listen before buying…or download it! If you’re looking for good brutal death check European bands like CEREBRAL EFFUSION or HOUR OF PENANCE who are more interesting.
